I recently
graduated from York University and the only two things I received from the four
years attending York was 1. A bachelor of arts degree 2. An extra 20lbs! Being a student and working part time took a
toll on my mind, body and soul. I was
miserable and depressed the majority of the time because I was not
happy with my appearance and my overall health. I had become sluggish. Just walking up my stairs induced heavy sweats
and breathing! I used to be
physically active as a child and as a teenager so this was quite
depressing! One Day I made a personal
decision that I had to get back into shape. I first joined a gym and signed up for a 1yr contract. I never went! I knew it was going to take a lot of
persuading and motivation in order to get back into the swing of things and I
thought what about a bootcamp style fitness program and sure enough Survivor
Bootcamp was the first one that popped up on my search engine! I signed up in July 2009 for a month just to see if I
would like it and I have stopped. Since July I have lost 15 lbs and now, I have more self-esteem and I feel happier with
life in general! Survivor Bootcamp
is not just about weight loss, it is about getting to know other people
within your community and building new relationships, sharing ideas and
knowledge. There was this one session
that I remember where several members were discussing a book by Tosca Reno
called "The Eat Clean Diet” and how they enjoyed reading the book so the very
same day I went to chapters and picked up the book and I’m really glad I did. Thanks
Ladies! Survivor Bootcamp is not just about exercising but about eating healthy too! Survivor Bootcamp literally kicked my butt into a whole new life style
which only provides positive results!
Overall, I
would recommend Survivor Bootcamp to anyone who wants to be fit, healthy and happy whether you are young or old, femail or male.

After 6 years of university and almost finished my first year of teaching high
school chemistry, I was in the worst shape I could ever remember. I was tired,
overweight, unhappy and looking for a fitness program that would be fun and
motivating. In the past I had tried exercising on my own and had a gym
membership, but I never had the motivation to maintain a consistent effort and
routine. I first joined Survivor Bootcamp back in April 2009 doing 3 classes a week. At
first I was intimidated to join a bootcamp style class, but after my first week
that completely changed. My trainer, Alex, and the other bootcampers in our
group were extremely supportive and encouraging. I was finally getting
excited about exercise and saw great results in the first month, losing 5 pounds and 3 inches all around.
After my first month I was hooked and
have been a member ever since. During the summer I was attending class 4-5
times a week and was continuing to see great results. I continued to lose
weight and inches, I was getting toned and I improved my cardio levels far
beyond what I could have ever expected.
Before Bootcamp, I absolutely hated
running and could barely run for 1 minute straight. I find running to be a
great workout now and am training with my fiance for a 5km race in October. Joining Survivor Bootcamp was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I
really look forward to attending classes, for the great workouts, but also to
see the other members that I have become great friends with over the past 6
months. I would highly recommend Survivor Bootcamp to anyone that is looking
for a fun and exciting programto help them lose weight and improve their overall fitness level.

Well my
experience with Survivor Bootcamp was awesome! Survivor Bootcamp is definitely the way to go. If you are
looking for great results and feeling healthy this is your "Yellow Brick Road" to follow.
Having 3 kids and working full time I definitely needed something to kick my
butt and help me get back into shape."Boy did that happen". Alex my instructor was a great motivator and never gave up in pushing you
because we could do it 1 hour 3 times a week and boy was it hard, but so worth
it. I felt great after each work out. Even though some days it was hard to get
started. But I knew I always felt better after each class and definitely improved all
the time. This did kick my butt and I am proud to have been able to take
time in my busy schedule because it was well worth it. Thank You
Survivor Bootcamp!

It's not so much about what I lost but rather what I gained! I'm a believer that "all things happen for a reason" and by no
coincidence my good friend Lori invited me to join Survivor Bootcamp with her
at a time when I needed it the most. I had just taken a leave from work
due to stress / burn-out. Facing depression and an overall low feeling about myself & future, I decided that I should not allow myself to sink
into it and needed to take action immediately. What better way to improve
my situation than by getting out of bed with a purpose every morning and
feeling good naturally by triggering endorphin release through intense
exercise. Thus began my Bootcamp journey. I soon established some personal goals for myself. The first of which was
to quit smoking. Exactly 2 weeks after joining, I quit "cold
turkey" and I recently achieved a significant milestone of one year of
living smoke free. Bootcamp certainly contributed to my improved lung
capacity and continues to help me build stronger lungs. This was my first
gain! I very quickly became "hooked on Bootcamp" and I continue to look
forward to my daily workout with enthusiasm. I have enjoyed the outdoor
and indoor venues equally. Additionally, I have been fortunate enough to
have the help of 6 excellent Bootcamp trainers throughout the year. With
the variety of landscape at each location, the personal attention of the
trainers, and wide range of exercises incorporated into the Bootcamp fitness
program, my body never knows what to expect from one day to the next. Discovering a passion for working out & making a commitment to self
improvement was my next gain. Before joining Bootcamp, I suffered from chronic back problems for a number of
years. I came to expect my back to "go out" about every few
months and when it did it would leave me debilitated for a week at a
time. In physiotherapy, I discovered that my "glutes" were not
firing and I lacked core strength. I am pleased to report that this is no
longer the case. I can definitely say that my "glutes" are in
full gear now and my back is better than ever! Conquering my physical
limitation was another important gain.
A few years ago, just before I turned 50, I started playing ice hockey. At times, I struggled to keep up with the pace of the game. Thanks to
Survivor Bootcamp, with healthier lungs and stronger legs, I brought increased
speed and endurance to every game this past season. Wow, what a plus! When new joiners learn that I have been consistently attending Bootcamp for a
year, they immediately want to know if I have lost weight. Although I can
happily claim that I am now in the best physical shape of my adult life and I
am stronger than ever, some of my best improvements are those that took place
on the inside. Bootcamp has become a way of life for me and I depend upon
it to keep me striving for a healthy balance of physical and mental
wellness. Realizing some of my personal goals for improved health is high
on my list of gains.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that there were some unexpected fringe
benefits. I established new found friendships with other "hard
core" Bootcampers. We support & encourage each other along the
way and never hesitate to give a little push when needed. It's come to be
one of the best "team" sports that I have been involved in. This gain is priceless! Bootcamp has turned out to be everything it claimed to be plus more! Thanks to all the trainers and my Bootcamp buddies. I look forward more
gains in my second year.

I always knew deep down, if I could
find the right exercise program, I would be able to quit smoking. I always
wished that I could have a personal trainer but it was not within my means.
Then one day, as I was reading the Brampton Guardian, I came across an ad for
Survivor Boot Camp. I knew right away it was the program for me, so I
immediately signed up.
I still remember my first fitness test, it took me
6min and 30sec to complete the 1km run. My lungs were burning and I thought I
was going to collapse. That first week I was so sore I could barely even walk,
but I was hooked. I completed my first month, signed up for the next month,
then took the 6 month plan. During that time I found my love for running. I
started running 5kms then decided to train for a Half Marathon. To date I have
ran two Half Marathons, a 30km and will be running the Full Marathon in May.
I
have been smoke free now for over a year. And although when I joined Boot Camp
I was not over weight, I was certainly out of shape and a bit flabby as well.
Now the flab, people call love handles, is gone and I even have Biceps. I still
go to Boot Camp and have just signed up for another year. It keeps me in great
shape and gives me a great edge when I am competing.
Oh and one more awesome thing, finally I can say that "I have abs now!"
