Health and fitness have been an integral important part of my life since I was
a young girl. I was not born skinny like the rest of my cousins who could
easily fit into a size 3 without any trouble. I was the only girl in my family
who had full hips, legs and a chubby round face - kids made fun of me. I learned very early in my life that if I wanted to look like 'everyone else',
I needed to watch what I ate carefully and to keep an active exercise routine. I applied the formula and it worked! My exercise regimen for many years included various forms of aerobics and
weight training at the gym. But after years of similar routines, I found that
my body wasn't changing - I was bored and needed something different. I reached out to the internet and came across Survivor Bootcamp. I immediately
signed up and my life has never been the same. Although I have always been
active, I have never been so fit and so excited to exercise every single day. Over the years I have learned that being healthy isn't about being skinny or
looking like everyone else. Being healthy is about respecting our individual
bodies by nourishing them with natural, nutritious foods and exercise. After
all we only get one body so let's make it the best it can be! Survivor Bootcamp has been an incredible experience. I am truly grateful to the
trainers and all the friends I have made who are always there to lend a hand
and to push me just a little bit harder when I think I can't push myself
anymore.

I am a bootcamp survivor since May 2008. The day I started I was a size 14, and in the worst shape of my life. I remember being measured for the first time in years and realizing that my waist was the same size as my husband's — and he's almost a foot taller than me! I also remember that I was scared, the word bootcamp is intimidating in itself, put survivor in front of it, and it's terrifying. I didn't know what to expect, but I was determined to get into shape and knew I couldn't do it on my own. I believe that I am fortunate because that was the day I met Mike.Mike is incredibly supportive, he recognized my limitations and focused on what I could do. In that first month I didn't feel like I was accomplishing much but through Mike's encouragement he made me believe that every little bit counts. I could only do push-ups on my knees and I remember not being able to keep up with everyone else, I would tire easily, but kept going to the sound of Mike's voice moving us forward... constantly. Imagine my surprise when the first month passed and there was evidence that it had worked. Inches were gone and I could actually do more!As each month passed, I became stronger, and was able to do more of the routines he placed in front of me and as I conquered each exercise and each kilometer, Mike motivated me to try new things, increasing my weights and putting more resistance into my routines. At 35 years old I am now a size 6, and in the best shape of my life. Sometimes I'm surprised at how strong I am and what I am capable of accomplishing. Through Mike's guidance, I not only built my body up, but I tore down the fears that had held me back. It's a year since I first began training under Mike. I have lost fat, gained muscle but most importantly, I have a newfound confidence in myself that I haven't seen in 17 years. I no longer think there is a physical challenge that I am unable to tackle. I can't imagine a day starting without my hour of bootcamp and Mike's voice egging me on to do more, do faster, do better... and if I can't do it... I can always "crunch it out".Naomi KingNew Westminster, BC |

I'm loving boot camp! Far more than I could have ever imagined, I
signed up knowing it was going to be outside my comfort zone and
horribly unpleasant. But it's fun! Really fun, like recess or
grade-school phys-ed (where the other kids don't laugh at me) and Janine is great, as promised. - Melanie, Vancouver, BC. |

I have tried the miracle diets and exercise videos before and just
ended up hungry and discouraged. I wanted to lose weight but was too
embarrassed to join a gym and lacked the discipline to do it on my own.
I needed to stop blaming my body on my genetics and not having any
time, I did this to myself and only I could change it. I decided it was
all or nothing and that was when I registered for Survivor Boot camp.
I
started boot camp terrified, but determined to lose the weight. My
trainers pushed me past my normal quitting point and showed me that my
body was capable of things I never thought possible. My energy levels
increased, my skin became clear, I lost 37 lbs in 12 weeks, went from a
size 16 to a size 6, made friends and most importantly, learned to love
myself and appreciate me.
Survivor boot camp has taught me about
myself and how to take care of myself. Through teamwork and moral
support I was given the greatest gift, a new opportunity and refreshed
outlook on life. Exercise used to be a chore and now it's more like an
addiction.
I plan to continue my exercise regime with
survivor, and encourage anyone thinking about it to close your eyes and
just do it your new life is waiting.

I have struggled with my weight! On a friends recommendation I tried Survivor Bootcamp. I originally signed up for the April 2008 session at 3 times per week and I fell in LOVE! I had great success, I love the outdoors, the people and the entire experience. I then continued on straight until September of that year with a new trainer and I had crazy success. I loved how my body had firmed up and how the 8 inches and 10lbs. The loss made me look leaner and more fit! Running was easier, the belly, arms and sholders was jiggling a little less each week. Let me tell you, being able to do 30 pushups from the toes was probably the coolest thing ever! I took the winter off but this spring had the itching to return. I had kept alot of my strength up and my running was still pretty good. I have altered my diet and have lost 14 pounds since January and am now putting my weight loss/bodysclupting into high gear. Nicole's Extreme class that starts next week! I am looking forward to having the workouts accelerate my weight loss! I have introduced many friends to the SBC family and I always tell them "you may not be a runner, but you will be" I love the sun on my face, the fresh air and the crazy blond with the stop watch egging me to push harder and harder! Thanks SBC Amanda, Edmonton, AB. |
